13 Now old Dunn was a rocky outlaw,
And he had grown powerful wild: He would paw the white out of the moon, Every jump for a mile.
14 Old Dunny stood plum still,
Not seeming to know The stranger had him saddled And was picking up to go.
15 But when the stranger mounted,
Old Dunny quit the earth, And travelled straight up For all he was worth.
16 Old Dunny booed and balled
Just like a jersey calf; While the stranger began to quirt his flanks, And we began to laugh.
17 Old Dunny was standing on his head,
Having wall-eyed fits, His hind feet perpendicular, His front ones in the bits.
18 But the stranger spurred him in the shoulders
And whipped him as he turned, To show those flunkey punchers He was wolf of the world.
19 The boss was standing near-by
Watching the fun; When the chap dismounted, He called him aside. |
